The Minister of Economy welcomes Start-Up Chile global entrepreneurs from generation 12


The program received 84 new companies from all over the world. Among the countries represented at the 12th generation of Start-Up Chile, are the US (21%), Chile (20%), Argentina (14%), India (8%) and Ireland (5%).

Santiago, February 25th , 2015.- Start-Up Chile celebrated the arrival of more entrepreneurs in the program with the visit of the Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism, Luis Felipe Céspedes.


This was a great opportunity to celebrate a great achievement: Now there are more than one thousand projects supported by Start-Up Chile since it was founded in 2010 (1057 startups). “Innovation and entrepreneurship in the country has increased by over 40%, allowing us to create more opportunities for young people and those with good business ideas,” said Céspedes during the welcoming that took place at the San Sebastián University.


The 12th generation began today their acceleration process by opening bank accounts, after being selected from more than 2,400 applicants. The startups chosen to be part of the program will receive 20 million pesos to launch their projects, free space to work, work visa for one year and access to the largest entrepreneurial community in the world.


Regarding the industries, the most represented in this round include IT & Software Company (25%), electronic commerce (10%) and media and advertising (9%). At the same time, 14% of companies that arrived were founded by women, while 84% of men.
