Startup of the salmon industry won Demo Day of Start-Up Chile

The most outstanding startups of generation 19 of the Seed program of Start-Up Chile presented their companies before judges, investors and other entrepreneurs, to compete for being the best business. In addition, for the first time, they also competed for extensions of CLP $10,000,000.

SANTIAGO, September 2019. The 16 best startups in the Seed program of Start-Up Chile were responsible for showing to judges, investors, and mentors, the most outstanding businesses of the 19th generation of the program. These were selected from a group of more than 80 companies, who competed to present at Demo Day. These 16 businesses, only during the 7 months of the program, managed to register worldwide sales of USD 6.4 million and USD 1.02 in sales in Chile. In addition, they raised capital of USD 3.52 million and created more than 450 jobs.

In this event, which marks the end of the 7-month acceleration program, each startup had to present its business with a 3-minute pitch. After a long process of deliberation, the 3 judges in charge of the selection chose Observe Technologies as the winner. This startup uses artificial intelligence (AI) to give actionable insights to optimize the biggest costs on fish farms, from feeding to health,
helping the management of fish farm sites to be more efficient, minimizing feed waste and increasing profits.

The second place was taken by Mapoteca, a Chilean startup that works with energy companies in the monitoring and traceability of the identification of dangerous elements for the electrical network, and the third place was obtained by Kokomo, the first commercial subscription solution All-In-One for companies in Latin America.

For the first time, startups that reached this stage could apply for extensions of CLP$10,000,000, to continue developing their business in Chile. In addition to the three winners of the competition, the extension was also obtained by U-Zave, Strong Mind Studios and TransaTuAuto.

The next Demo Day will be in January 2019, where the best startups that are currently accelerating their business in the Seed program will compete to become the best of Generation 20.
