Cine Papaya is doing great! Rockin´ The Next Web conference

Blog

UPDATE: Papaya actually won the second place at TNW Latin America Startup Battle!  This speaks volumes about what´s next for this awesome team from Peru. Keep it up, team!

Several suppers are doing great networking at The Next Web conference. Among them, there is Cine Papaya, whose team was selected as one of the finalists at  TNWs Best of Accelerators Startup Battle. We are extremely proud of them and cheering from Santiago! Since things are going so well, Gary Urteaga took some time to write and share with us what have they been up to lately, and the news coming are great.

In PAPAYA, the team is working hard to offer a multi platform product for the sale of movie tickets online and thru mobile devices (see demo). They have been able to finance the continuous development of their web platform, movie ticket validation system using QR technology and Smartphones, and the APPs for iPhone, Android, Windows Phone, Windows 8 and SmartTVs (to be published soon). They are currently negotiating contracts with various local and multinational movie theatre chains and launched their movie showtimes web and the apps in Peru, Colombia and Chile.  They partnered with Chilevision and ATV to offer movie related content and showtimes to their millions of viewers and web visitors and they are promoting the Santiago Festival de Cine Internacional (SANFIC) . They just pitched at the Wayra Demo Day in Peru where more than 60% of the assisting investors have expressed in writing a very strong interest to invest in PAPAYA.

And there´s still more coming. They just tied on the first place at the Startup World Competiton in Peru  on August 18th and were selected on the top 16 Latin American finalists for TNWs Best of Accelerators Startup Battle. They just got their first Angel Investor and great mentors for a board of advisors that will sure guide them during their next steps!

We can´t wait for them to be back here so they can share all their knowledge with the Start-Up Chile community.
