Peruvian Startup Nutrishake Andino attracts investors


Lima, Peru. Nutrishake Andino, a Peruvian startup that applied to Start-Up Chile Seed round 17, is fighting malnutrition in children by financing social projects through the development and commercialization of healthy products from in Andean Cereals. They were selected among hundreds of ventures from all over the world to participate a the Social Capital Markets 2016 (SOCAP 16) which took place on September 13-16 in Silicon Valley. SOCAP 16 gathered impact investors, social entrepreneurs, philanthropists, foundations, NGOs and corporations, all contributing to a vibrant marketplace for socially, environmentally and economically sustainable solutions.

“It was a successful road show for us, the energy at SOCAP 16 was incredible, I had the chance to present my company to investors and directors of venture capital funds focused on social projects” states Daniel Núñez, cofounder and CEO of Nutrishake Andino, and added “it was an honor to be the only representative from Perú.”

Núñez said that he had a meeting with Loic Comolli, CEO of Nesst, one of the leading investors in social enterprises of the world, and that he expects to receive seed capital and support to accelerate their growth and social impact. “Nesst has shown strong interest our R&D for technologies to connect our customers and offer them detailed nutritional information on our products, information about our good practices on organic agriculture and fair trade of our suppliers, and the details of the social projects and communities that with support to combat anemia and malnutrition in children”, Daniel Núñez stated.

Núñez said that “thanks to the support of the Peruvian consulate in San Francisco, we have also identified important commercial opportunities, for example we had a conversation with Piero Stucchi, who manages a distribution company of organic products in the United States, and with whom we will explore the possibility to introduce Nutrishake Andino’s products to supermarkets like Whole Foods and Trader Joe´s in California”.

Nutrishake Andino is a startup sponsored by the Startup Perú and it is currently a finalist for a Biodeversity Grant from the Innovation Program of the Ministry of Production of Peru.  On Friday September 30th, Nutrishake will be making their final pitch to the selection committee to receive a USD 50,000 R&D Grant to finance the development of their technology.

“It has been an exciting week for us, we just received an investment offer from a financial boutique in Peru, specialized in agribusiness, retail and sustainable ventures. We are currently evaluating and negotiating the terms of the proposal”, said Carlos Noceda, cofounder of Nutrishake Andino.

Nutrishake Andino will be participating at the world finals of the Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen, Denmark on novmber 20-21 of this year. They are looking forward to introduce their venture to the European entrepreneurial ecosystem and their investment communities.
