Next Wednesday´s meetup is a must go. IPTV is the next generation of digital television, where all the multimedia is delivered through IP. Telecommunication companies that have invested in fiber optics such as AT&T, BT, Portugal Telecom, Deutsche Telecom, and the Telefonica group use IPTV to compete against the cable and satellite operators offering a premium TV product with interactive services. IPTV offers an incredible environment for interactive apps that combined with video services provide an amazing user experience.
This is what we will be talking about on Wednesday!
Purpose of this Meetup:
In this meet-up we will look in detail at the IPTV product that is currently being offered by these large operators around the world with viewable examples of their interactive apps. Also, we hope to illustrate new opportunities in this industry revolution.
Opportunity for Startups:
The opportunities are endless, your imagination is the limit. The IPTV product is open for third party developers with a documented SDK. For example, in Movistar there is an Android app to remote control the TV at home over wifi. Using your cell phone app, you can search for the content you like in a much seamless experience than using the proprietary remote control and then send it to the TV. IPTV offers an incredible platform for entrepreneurs to offer innovative apps that can be marketed to operator around the world.
