Latin American company wins the Start-Up Chile Demo Day

The startup Fracttal won the Start-Up Chile 11th Generation Demo Day and a round-trip to San Francisco, where they can meet more entrepreneurs and investors from Silicon Valley.

Santiago Zavala (one of the partners at Mexican.VC in Mexico City and partner at 500 Startups), Marcelo Sales (nTime and Movile founder) and Gleb Kaplun (Partner at Bright Capital VC) evaluated the top 18 startups of the entrepreneurship program that presented their ideas in front of investors.

SANTIAGO, Chile March 27th 2015.- On Thursday March 26th , the best startups from the eleventh generation of Start-Up Chile presented their companies and ideas to well renowned judges, international entrepreneurs, investors and the investment community in Chile. The winner was Fracttal, a startup founded by Chris Struve from Venezuela and Alejandro Pérez from Colombia. They won a round-trip ticket to San Francisco, where they will have the chance to meet potential investors to grow their network.

 

Fracttal is an asset management platform for Internet of Things (IoT). Is a SaaS cloud-based software that combines all the possibilities of Machine to Machine (M2M) communication and Enterprise Asset Management (EAM). With Fracttal companies of any sector or size can solve their critical asset performance challenges, making the maintenance management and asset control efficient. It is comprised of 3 components: Fracttal EAM, Fracttal Mobile and Fracttal BoX.

 

After the pitches at Demo Day, the judges had a secret and tough deliberation to decide who would be the winner. Fracttal was chosen because they are already making sales and for their high chances to escalate in a short term period.

 

The judges also stated that Demo Day and the quality of the startups exceeded, by far, their expectations. “There are a few startups that I want to bring to my country (Brasil) and others were I want to invest”, said Marcelo Sales, Founder of nTime, Movile and one of the three judges.

 

 

Demo Day Winners

Second place – Renueva Tu Closet: Renueva tu Closet is a social marketplace disrupting the second-hand industry by making it easy to buy and sell high-quality used clothing online. We help women across LATAM both to find their favorite name brands and styles at up to 80% off retail prices, and to make money from clothing they’re no longer wearing. The process of refreshing your wardrobe either from our website or from our app mobile is now fun and affordable!

 

 

Third place – RealSpeaker Inc : RealSpeaker Inc. develops the audio-visual speech recognition application RealSpeaker. Our solution uses additional video information, which allows as to improve voice recognition accuracy by at least 20-30 per cent. This makes our patent pending technology way ahead of existing competitions. We have been working for 2.5 years. We have released beta version of our product for Windows OS, which is currently in use by about 3k paid users from Russia. In this year, we are going to reach over 35 paid users with a revenue over $1M by the means of English, Spanish and Deutsch speaking people too.
