Language Systems, a Start-Up Chile team from Beijing by way of Canada, has just announced the launch of Chino Ahora, their newly activated community for native Spanish speakers seeking to learn Mandarin Chinese.
Developed in Santiago with the support of Start-Up Chile, Chino Ahora is an online community boasting a number of free downloadable podcasts, Chinese-Spanish karaoke videos, and blog posts– whose content is growing each day. Along with the content found on the site, they have created and compiled other compatible tools such as a Spanish-Chinese dictionary, interactive character-writing pad, and a number of short stories with word-by-word annotations, “making it possible for anyone to read Chinese even they can’t recognize a single character” states David Lancashire, Language System’s CEO.
Language Systems already operates two popular communities for native English speakers interested in learning Chinese dialects: Popup Chinese and Popup Cantonese. Chino Ahora is the company’s first product for the international Spanish-speaking market which, behind Chinese, is the second most widely spoken language in the world. Lancashire and team plan to launch additional sites shortly, basing production out of their new office in Santiago, as well as their existing facilities in Beijing.
