We are already halfway through July and that means that Generation 10 is halfway through the program and DemoDays are coming up!
In order to select the fifteen best startups of each generation to come out of Startup Chile, there is selection process much like the World Cup we just lived. In quarterfinals and semifinals the different startups pitch their project to a wide audience in order to be admitted to the final DemoDay on the 31st of July.
Generation 10 started two weeks ago with the selection process holding pitch sessions in the main room at our office. There were around 100 people present and every startup took the stage for about three minutes to talk about their product, their business model and the team. It was the time to see progress in every project and it was impressive to see how far some startups had come and how much some ideas had evolved over the course of the last months. As not all startups work in the same office, it was also time to see ‘old friends’ again.
Other than fellow suppers and curious people from outside, Startup Chile had invited a jury of four judges to evaluate the pitches and projects. From the 100 startups, 32 were selected for the next round of Semi Finals that were held the following week in a closed setting. There the same criteria applied: A three minute presentation about the Product or Service, the Team and the Progress and now we are looking forward to the DemoDay Finals at the end of July 31st.
Walking through the office you can see different teams practicing their pitches, working on the slides, making graphics on excel or even writing and crossing the speech out. It’s an exciting time!
